An amusing note about the Furry Fandom is that a Furry is an anthropomorphic animal, and by animal I mean just about every species imaginable, including sentient inorganics and creatures that obviously lack fur. The vast majority of Furry characters are species that actually have fur, so the name stuck easily enough. Since anthropomorphic lizards and dragons are in the same genre, they are Furry as well -- no matter how odd that sounds.

While they are still Furry, there is a special term that refers only to anthropomorphic reptiles and amphibians: Scalies. However, "Scalies" never refers to the entire Fandom, only the scaled members of the Fandom.
