A fursona is an anthropomorphic animal character (ie, a Furry) that represents a person in the Furry Fandom. It may only be used as a subject to draw or a character to roleplay, but many fursonas are simply a Furry version of their human owner.

The term itself is a play on sounds: the first syllable in "Persona" sounds like the word "Fur". Thus the phrase "Furry Persona" is shortened to "Fursona".

Most of the people in the Furry Fandom have a fursona, but one doesn't need to have a fursona to be a Furry.
